If you’ve ever been through a disability assessment, you know: it’s not about helping you. It’s about finding ways to deny you.

And it’s working exactly as intended.

The Cruel Logic

The government calls these assessments “independent” and “fair.” In reality, they’re run by private companies paid millions to get as many people off benefits as possible. The more claims they reject, the more profitable the contract.

It’s not incompetence. It’s policy.

The Reality for Claimants

  • You’re assessed by someone who often has no specialist knowledge of your condition.
  • They can ignore your medical evidence and make a decision based on a 20-minute chat.
  • Reports are full of lies—claiming you can walk when you can’t, lift when you can’t, concentrate when you can’t.
  • If you challenge the decision, you’re thrown into months (sometimes years) of appeals—often with no income in the meantime.

The Human Cost

  • People forced into work they’re not physically able to do.
  • Conditions worsening because treatment or equipment becomes unaffordable.
  • Lives lost—through neglect, poverty, or suicide—because the system is designed to wear you down until you give up.

They Want You to Think It’s Your Fault

That you didn’t “explain it properly.” That you “weren’t prepared.” That you “just need to appeal.”
But when 70% of appeals succeed, it’s clear: the problem isn’t us. The problem is the system.

What You Can Do

✅ Share this post—because most people don’t see how deliberately cruel this process is until it’s too late.
✅ Support campaigns calling for in-house NHS-run assessments, not profit-driven ones.
✅ Support Forgotten Rights via [Ko-fi], [Patreon], or a donation—because we’re not stopping until this system is dismantled.

They call it an assessment. We call it a weapon.
