Benefits or Bare Survival? The DWP’s War on the Poor

They call them “benefits.” Let’s tell the truth: they’re not benefits, they’re lifelines. And every week, the DWP cuts another rope.

Assessments rigged. Appeals ignored. Letters dripping with threats. They talk about “helping people into work” — what they mean is pushing people into poverty, hunger, and death.

We’ve seen it all before: the “hostile environment.” It’s just been rebranded and unleashed on sick and disabled citizens instead of immigrants. Same cruelty, same intent: punish the vulnerable, protect the rich.

We deserve dignity, not punishment. Survival, not starvation.

✊ Forgotten Rights is powered by readers ✊

The government ignores us. The media silences us. This blog exists to scream back.

If you value this fight — help keep it alive.

Affiliate Disclosure

Forgotten Rights is an independent blog run with one simple goal: to call out how the UK government mistreats sick and disabled people. To keep this site alive and ad-free, I sometimes use affiliate links.

What this means in plain English: if you click on certain links on this site and then make a purchase, I may earn a small commission. This does not cost you anything extra. The price you pay is exactly the same, whether you go through my link or directly to the retailer.

Affiliate links help cover the costs of running Forgotten Rights (hosting, domain, security, coffee, etc.). They also mean I can keep producing raw, honest writing without filling the site with annoying pop-ups or banner ads.

I only link to products, services, or organisations that I believe may genuinely help readers of this blog — such as mobility aids, disability rights resources, health and wellness items, or trusted charities. That said, please use your own judgement before making any purchase.

Transparency Promise

I will always be upfront when a link is an affiliate link. If you ever have questions about how this works, you can contact me directly via the Contact page.

Thank you for supporting Forgotten Rights — whether by donating, sharing posts, clicking links, or just reading. Every bit of support keeps this fight alive.
